CANAAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY RECEIVES $5,000 GRANT FOR DOCUMENTAL VIDEO |
The Canaan Historical Society recently received a $5,000 grant from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to support the design of a documentary video. This past summer some of the Historical Society members spent five weekends conducting video interviews with current and past residents of Canaan, Beecher Falls, Wallace Pond, South Canaan, and West Stewartstown. The twenty-plus hours of video will be edited through the fall and the final product, a condensed version of the interviews, should be available for sale by the end of the year. The final version will center on the memories of the interviewees about growing up in the area, the schools, people of interest, and various businesses that no longer exist. Photographs and archival video will be added to highlight events or topics.
The Canaan Historical Society is very thankful and hopes their project meets with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s expectations. Alec Biron is the videographer and Dan Wade the technical consultant for the project.
The historical society committee meets the third Friday of each month and the public is welcome to attend; more information is available at the Canaan Historical Society (second floor of the Alice Ward Memorial Library), 802-266-7135.
